John Orr began writing and recording music when he was fourteen years old, in the pre computer era of multi-track cassette machines. At the same time he was learning to play the guitar and program his first synthesizer, John was honing his skills as a recording technician. The recording studio became just another instrument in the arsenal of this multi-talented instrumentalist, vocalist, artist and composer. This website reflects the years of work and determination that John has dedicated to his music.
After studying Recording Industry Management and Composition for a number of years in college, John dropped out before finishing his degree to, as he puts it; get on with doing the work. It was years later, with the advent of the internet and home computing, that John formed his own record label and began self-producing and releasing his own recordings online. Flash forward to 2014 and we find that John is about to release his sixth self-produced album entitled “Lineage”, an album of deeply personal and introspective songs that show John fully embracing his family heritage while mustering an even deeper level to his songwriting.
“This is without a doubt the best collection of songs that I’ve ever produced. I knew what I had to write about with this record and while it was hard at times to face some of the truly emotional themes, it was also without a doubt, the most fulfilling project I’ve ever undertaken. I can’t wait to share it with you all.” – JOF
The latest album from John entitled “Lineage”, is slated for release in January 2015. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!
