Johnny Cerisano (That Johnny Kid)
Johnny was given his father’s 1984 Ibanez RS530 exactly one month before his ninth birthday and advanced very rapidly. Quickly, he began writing, performing, and recording his own hard-driving, instrumental music and arrangements and has been compared to Joe Satriani, Alex Skolnick (of TSO), and other guitar greats.
• At age 11, Johnny completed his first recording (“Lightning”), which continues to receive praise for its infectious hooks and arpeggio sweeps that make the listener doubt his age.
• At age 12, Johnny was invited to become the youngest member of his church’s adult praise team. As the sole electric guitarist, Johnny blends lead and rhythm in a way that makes the listener think Eddie Van Halen has found religion.
• Less than a month after Johnny’s 13th birthday, Johnny was asked to join Inspire Guitars’ team of sponsored artists and became their “Calendar Year Artist.” A custom-built “Sonic Classic Shred Series” guitar (built to specs) was presented to him on stage after a performance at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia.
• At age 14 (November 2010), Johnny released his first full-length CD (Red Sky). His musical maturity and uncanny mastery of the instrument has earned Red Sky acclaim in local and Web media, and sales have exceeded expectations and continue to be strong. He served as his own recording engineer and mixed and mastered the final product.
Now 15, Johnny has continued to advance and write and record new music. He plays lead guitar weekly with his home church praise team and occasionally accepts invitations to perform at other churches or venues.
Johnny is home-schooled and the second-born of eight and still forgets to take out the trash.
