Jon Goldstein is the composer of LIBERTY, A MONUMENTAL NEW MUSICAL, songs from which were showcased on Liberty Island as part of the national celebration of the Statue’s 125th birthday. The performance was introduced by Sigourney Weaver and hosted by Michael Feinstein. Sections from LIBERTY were also featured in the July 4th celebration to reopen the Statue’s crown in 2009, introduced by Ken Burns.
Jon Goldstein's work has been seen on ABC’s Good Morning America, in New York City at The Acorn Theatre, The Algonquin Theater, The Cherry Lane Theatre, The Culture Project, The Women’s Project, The Workshop Theater Company, Liberty Island and the United Nations; regionally at The Hartford Children’s Theatre (Hartford, CT), Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center (Nyack, NY), The Rhinebeck Performing Arts Center (Rhinebeck, NY) and The Warner Theater (Torrington, CT).
From 1998 to 2008, Jon Goldstein produced educational touring shows with Theater Garden, Ltd, and wrote the music for LADY OF COPPER; SPARK & THE STRANGERS and ENOUGH FOR ALL, NATIVE AMERICANS & THE FIRST SHARED THANKSGIVING. His original play, THE ROAD TO FREEDOM, DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. & THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT was endorsed by The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (Atlanta, GA) and has enjoyed over 100 performances on Equity TYA tours throughout the U.S. East coast.
