José has been teaching for over 17 years and his passion for music reaches out to all of his students. He ignites talent within his students and as a result, they have been recognized across the region. His vast teaching career includes Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He currently teaches music and orchestra at Southlake Christian Academy in Huntersville, NC. José is a member of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC).
As a composer and arranger, José’s music has received great exposure. His work “Sonrise Prelude” for String Quartet was premiered at South Florida's Summer Arts Institute. Moreover, his song “Bendecid Su Nombre” (“Bless His Name”) was included in “Te Pido La Paz” (“I Pray for Peace”), an album released by Vida Publishers, a division of Zondervan, featuring Jaime Murrell and 95 Norte, which has been one of the top sellers in the Spanish Christian music industry. Many of José’s arrangements and transcriptions have also been performed in public school orchestras. José is affiliated to the American Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers (ASCAP).
One of José’s greatest passions in his life becomes so evident when it comes to music as a means of worship to the Lord. His devoted love to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is reflected through his active role in leading people to God's presence, first in Puerto Rico, then in South Florida, and now as part of the worship team in Life Fellowship, which is in Davidson, North Carolina. By God's grace, José has been able to share his passion with people in the countries of Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Perú, and México.
