Jose R. Bas

José R. Bas is in great demand as a violinist and as a teacher. He is also a composer and arranger. José's music career began in his native Puerto Rico at the age of 9. He graduated Cum Laude from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and received a Masters degree from the University of Miami. He has studied under very prestigious violinists like Kachiro Figueroa, Thomas Moore, Harvey Thurmer, Howard Beebe, and Karen Lowry. José has also participated in Master class sessions with world renown violinists like Andrés Cárdenes (soloist and Concertmaster at Pittsburg Symphony), Ricardo Cyncynates (Assistant Concertmaster at National Symphony Orchestra), Rafael Druian (former Concertmaster at Cleveland Symphony), and Peter Zazofsky (Soloist).

José's music career also includes an extensive symphonic experience with the Charlotte Philharmonic, Salisbury Symphony, Ballantyne Chamber Orchestra, Magnify Choir and Orchestra, Hendersonville Symphony, Miami Symphony, and the Symphony of the Americas; also, he has played in the Palm Beach Opera, Miami City Ballet, and the Puerto Rico Symphony. Through the years he has had the honor to perform on stage with musical stars like Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Itzhak Perlman, Cho Lian Ling, Bernadette Peters, Kathy Lee Gifford, Luis Miguel, and Raul di Blasio, among many others. He recently collaborated with "Chairmen of the Board", on a recording project.

José has been teaching for over 17 years and his passion for music reaches out to all of his students. He ignites talent within his students and as a result, they have been recognized across the region. His vast teaching career includes Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He currently teaches music and orchestra at Southlake Christian Academy in Huntersville, NC. José is a member of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC).

As a composer and arranger, José’s music has received great exposure. His work “Sonrise Prelude” for String Quartet was premiered at South Florida's Summer Arts Institute. Moreover, his song “Bendecid Su Nombre” (“Bless His Name”) was included in “Te Pido La Paz” (“I Pray for Peace”), an album released by Vida Publishers, a division of Zondervan, featuring Jaime Murrell and 95 Norte, which has been one of the top sellers in the Spanish Christian music industry. Many of José’s arrangements and transcriptions have also been performed in public school orchestras. José is affiliated to the American Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers (ASCAP).

One of José’s greatest passions in his life becomes so evident when it comes to music as a means of worship to the Lord. His devoted love to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is reflected through his active role in leading people to God's presence, first in Puerto Rico, then in South Florida, and now as part of the worship team in Life Fellowship, which is in Davidson, North Carolina. By God's grace, José has been able to share his passion with people in the countries of Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Perú, and México.
