Judi Silvano

Biography

Judi Silvano celebrates music wherever she goes! Her recordings reflect her broad taste from the Great American Songbook on LET YOURSELF GO, to songs by American Women on WOMEN’S WORK, the compositions of Billy Holiday’s last accompanist Mal Waldron on RIDING A ZEPHYR and her own originals on CLEOME: LIVE TAKES.

Silvano’s imagination is evident on her 9 releases in groups as diverse as a 3-Horn Septet to Piano & Voice duo to cutting-edge Quartet with no chordal instrument and even a Vocal Choir in her Meditative & Healing soundscapes.

She has toured and recorded with Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner, Rufus Reid, Ingrid Jensen, Mal Waldron, Dick Oatts and Bobby Few, sung under the batons of Gunther Schuller, Manny Albam and Byron Olson, was voted Top 10 Vocalist in Down Beat Reader’s Polls 4 times, awarded 3 Grants, leads Educational Workshops in Music & Dance for all ages, teaches Voice and explores composing as a lifelong expression of her passion for plants and the joy of gardening.
