Justin Avery grew up in small town Traverse City, Michigan. He was exposed to music at a young age at his fathers nightclub DILL'S OLD TOWNE SALOON. Each summer Justin got to see a full band and full variety show put on by 8 college kids. The shows written and conceived mostly by Justin's father and Mindy Rohn, involved all kinds of music and show biz magic. Justin fell in love with multiple genres, gravitating towards piano and vocals as his main threat. DILLS OLD TOWNE SALOON was where Justin truly found and discovered a love for music.
Justin moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to continue his band Population Game (Once called DOC BROWN) formed at Western Michigan University. Population Game released 2 full length albums in LA, "This Room's Too Small for Two of Us" and "Wake Me Up, Let Me Down".
Along with playing and releasing original music, Justin also worked and played for artists Katy Perry, Sheila E, The Emotions, Billy Ray Cyrus, Terrence Howard (actor, "Iron Man"), Naturi Naughton (actor/singer, "FAME"), Kenna, Spookey Ruben and MEAT LOAF.
Justin has been touring as the piano player for the one and only MEAT LOAF since early 2010.
Justin recently played piano and sang on MEAT LOAF's 2012 full album release HELL IN A HAND BASKET.
He is also featured as the piano man in white on the full DVD "Guilty Pleasures" recorded live in Sidney, Australia.
Justin has long been working on the release of his 7 album project WORLD IN A SUITCASE. The albums represent an evolution of Justin. Each album has a different feel and presentation. Album number one, entitled "OVER", is a soul driven album about love found and love lost. Influences range from Stevie Wonder, Prince, Sting, Sly Family Stone, Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai and more......
Album two is quite different than album one. "CARELESS" is an Epic Rock Opera album about the eccentric, energetic and care free side of life. This is an album influenced by Queen, The Police, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, David Bowie, Billy Joel.....and more.
Justin has a lot of music coming your way......Be on the lookout...... and get your suitcase packed and ready!!!
