Kalaban has been resurrected!! Version 3 of the band is now recording the next album, called "Edges" (referring to the interesting things that happen at the edges of things such as how the tide pools at the edge of the ocean have a lot of unique life. Kalaban v3 lineup consists of Randy Graves, Kyle Nish, Kyle Tippets and Brad Campbell.
Kalaban version 2, was together from approximately 1982 to 1996 . The nucleus of the band was Randy Graves, Michael Stout and Gary Stout. Many talented bass players helped create the energy of the band. Dave Wilbur, Kent Underwood and Rob Johnson were some of the more durable of this parade. David Thomas did most of the vocals but Doug Lyman was an early singer.
Kalaban version 1 was in operation from 1975 to 1981 and had Randy and Craig Parker and Kim Ellison as members. This was essentially a college student band, but there are some recordings from that time. Please see the Kalaban.org site for archaeological information including several odd recordings and some pics.
Most of the bands touring was done in the western United States, and all of the recording was done in Utah studios, including Audio Visions in Lindon, and the Osmond recording complex in Orem, as well as their home studio of Ultraviolet, now relocated, rebuilt and renamed as noisefloor9.
