Flutist and composer, Kat Epple, has won 8 Emmy Awards and was nominated for a Grammy in 1986. She has released 23 music albums internationally on various record labels.
Kat's live performances include: Guggenheim Museums in NYC, Italy, and Spain, with Symphony Orchestras, United Nations, National Gallery, Washington DC, Museum of Modern Art, NYC, Hollywood Palace, Palazzo dei Diamanti in Italy, a concert tour of Russia, Naples Winter Wine Festival, with Dance Troupes, for President Bill Clinton at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, at "Ground Zero" on september 11th, 2006, by invitation of New York City's Mayor Bloomberg's office, and for many art openings around the world with her artist friend, Bob Rauschenberg. She has traveled to the far reaches of the globe including China, Africa, Russia, The Amazon, Europe, Peru, Mexico, Japan, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean, to learn of the people, natural environment, and the music of other cultures. She uses music in her work to promote peace, education, and environmental awareness, and has amassed a large collection of flutes from cultures around the world, which she features in her original compositions.
Kat also composes original music using digital technology, for television and film scores including: National Geographic, Nova, CNN, Carl Sagan, Another World, The Travel Channel, Turner Broadcasting System, History Channel, HGN, The Guiding Light, PBS, Apple Computers, and NASA among others, and was Music Director for the feature-length film, Captiva Island.
In 2006 and 2009, Kat was awarded The Alliance of the Arts', Angel of the Arts, Performer of the Year, "Who's Who in America", and was installed as the Worldwide Peace Marker Project's Artist/Ambassador for the United States.
Her music has been described as celestial, yet earthy, primeval, and innovative.
