Born in Music City USA, a home to the gospel music industry, Keesha Rainey always had a lifelong dream of being a vocal artist. In church, she began on this road toward stardom at the tender age of 6, singing in the children’s choir at her family church in Antioch, Tennessee. It didn’t stop there! It was at this early age that she began to hone in on her vocal gift and musical and leadership abilities.
Early in her career, she has been blessed to travel the country with her managers group, Donnie, Darryl, & The Joyboyz, singing and developing as an artist and even sharing the stage with them.
Keesha, who is signed with, JSound Records, finished recording her first full project, entitled, Breakthrough, in fall of 2008 and released it to the public, March 17, 2009. “People will really get to see my personality through this ‘out of the box’ cd, as my producer calls it. That’s really exciting to me,” Keesha says.
Breakthrough is a cd that will reach the masses. It has no limitations. No barriers. It crosses various genres such as rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, neo soul, and funk, all then connecting with gospel to form a spiritual melting pot.
Keesha Rainey, who is not only a singer, but also a songwriter, had the opportunity to write on her project. She wrote independently songs such as, “Call Him” and her personal testimony, “Breakthrough.” She co-wrote songs, such as “Another Chance” and her hit song “Rejoice,” which made history on CJB Radio (an internet based radio station), being the only song to remain #1 on the charts for a consecutive 6 weeks and hitting #3 on the charts of CJB Radio Top 50 songs for 2010. “I thank God for my producers and for my managers push for me to write on this project. I believe people will be able to relate to my songs in any situation they are going through. I believe it will definitely be a blessing to many,” she says.
In both 2007 and 2009 at the Gospel City Music Awards in Nashville, TN, she was nominated for Female Artist of the Year. In 2010, Keesha was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, Best Urban Soul Song (Another Chance), and Best Urban Soul Album for the 2010 EnSound Music Awards and then just recently within the same year, became 2010 Nashville Independent Music Awards nominee for Best Female Contemporary Gospel Artist. To top that off, she was privileged to end her successful 2010 year off with taping the Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel show at the grand opening of his new studio, Visions, in Nashville, TN, which aired on the Word Network.
Keesha has a true love for God and she believes that the sky is the limit to what He can and will do in her ministry!
