Keith Driskill

"You can take the boy out of the South but you can't take the South out of the boy!"
That is probably the best way to describe Keith. Born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and raised in Hopkinsville for most of his childhood, he was ten years old when he became interested in playing guitar - "I hounded poor ol' dad to death until finally one day I came home and there was my first guitar waiting for me in the living room. I'm pretty sure Dad thought it was just a phase that I was going through and that it would only be a couple of weeks before I got bored and never picked it up again."

Over the many years from that time Keith has owned seven different guitars and continues to create his own style of music.

At the age of fourteen his family moved to his father's childhood stomping grounds near the small town of Heflin, Louisiana where he continued his teenage years playing his music for friends and family and later winning an award in his high school talent show. At age nineteen he headed to Idaho for two years as a missionary for his church.

Afterward Keith returned home to Louisiana. It didn't take long to realize that there wasn't much in the way of opportunity and personal growth for him there and that his future lie somewhere else. Seattle, Washington seemed the right place to be. So, it wasn't long before he packed his bags, loaded up his '73 Chevrolet Nova and made the trek west.

He spent nearly the next eight years there. Seattle was no disappointment - "It was a wonderful and exciting place to be. There always seemed to be somewhere to go and something new to experience. The mountains and ocean, two things that I love most, were both only a short time away."

Keith began to fly sailplanes for a while until money ran short and he could no longer afford it. But, the experience left such an impression on him that it inspired his song "Whispering Wind".

Some time later he wrote the ballad "I'm In Love" and recorded it at Ironwood Studio north of Seattle. It received limited airplay on one of the popular Seattle radio stations - "I was not a well known local singer/songwriter in the area and it was amazing to me that a radio station was willing to play my first recording project on the air."

Eventually he left Seattle and went to Utah where he now lives with his family in Spanish Fork.

Keith attributes his musical style to personal life experiences and a deep belief that music should be an uplifting source of inspiration.
