BIOGRAPHY
Ken D. Ward:
Ken bought his first guitar at seventeen and began learning piano at eighteen when after his midnight shifts as a waiter; he would drive to his local church and climb through an open window to practice and compose on the church grand piano, often for hours into the morning.
Ken attended California State University at Long Beach on a full athletic football scholarship and married at age twenty-three. Shortly thereafter, Ken chose to pursue a business career instead of a music career, believing the decision would provide greater financial stability. Throughout his business career, when possible, Ken would spend hours into the night and early morning playing and composing music.
Having written and recorded in many different genres, Ken’s reputation for producing reflective, inspirational and heartfelt music and lyrics has grown. He has worked with some of the businesses most talented performers and studio musicians, including industry legends such as Bob Babbitt, Brent Mason, Stewart Dunkin, Michael Bonagura, Ricky Lawson, Bernie Dresel and Mark LeVang to name a few.
Ken’s most popular compositions include the (Pop Ballad) version of “When You Believe”, featuring vocalist Leslie Page and arranged by Eddie Brown and Ricky Lawson. Additional favorites include his adult contemporary recordings of “Remember Me” and “Never Known, which was written in 2011 for his wife Tracey as well as Country favorites “For the Rest of My life” also written for Tracey, “Let Me Love Again” and “Always, Wherever, Forever” which Ken says he wrote in less than 30 minutes after reading a nighttime bed story to his youngest son Grant at age four.
Ken admits that his family is his world. He sees his role as a husband and father paramount to everything else. Ken’s personal values and beliefs to a large extent are reflected in his music. His personal favorite includes “Faithfully, first written in 1993 and then rewritten and re-recorded in 2011” as a Christian composition featuring vocalist Ricky Crowley.
Also in 2011, Ken finished production and recording of a US Olympic highlight video that featured his anticipated hit, “When You Believe”. Having seen the final product, Ken was asked to produce a similar highlight music video for the Professional Golf Association “PGA” featuring the same song. You can view three separate musical versions of the Olympic highlight video on YouTube by typing “Ken D.
