Music is the lifeblood of Ken Will Morton. An accomplished singer/songwriter based in Athens, GA, his music is rock with elements of Americana, roots, folk and blues. With six solo releases under his belt, and another on the way for late spring/early summer 2012, his songwriting skills have been praised by American Songwriter, Relix, Blues Matters, Vintage Guitar, Georgia Music Magazine, Blurt, AmericanaUK and more!
He is an extremely engaging performer, having played hundreds of shows in some of the country’s best listening rooms, such as Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, The Bluebird Café in Nashville and The Living Room in NYC. He has toured most parts of the U.S., opening for Edwin McCain, Dick Dale, Randall Bramblett, Tommy Stinson, Sugarland, & more. He has toured in Ireland, performed at South-by-Southwest, the Americana Music Festival, Joshua Tree Music Festival, AthFest, Atlantis Music Conference, Pensacola Beach Songwriter’s Festival and more.
In April of 2008, Ken Will’s song “Oh Lord” was prominently featured in the TV show The Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel, which still continues to air both domestically and internationally. In 2011, his song “On My Feet Again” was used in the closing sequence of the indie film “Flight Of The Cardinal” (Gaston Pictures). In June 2012, his song “Devil In Me” was used in the HBO series, True Blood.
Morton released Contenders on Ghostmeat Records in November 2011, a stripped down setting of acoustic guitars, bass, piano, mandolin, violin and percussion that received rave reviews from the press!
"In describing the music the sound Ken Will Morton's maintained over the course of his short but prolific career, the words 'austere' and 'authentic' generally tend to come to mind...Contenders, the latest in a series of strikingly affecting offerings from this Athens Georgia homeboy, is especially engaging." “With his drowsy drawl, clever turns-of-phrase and earthy, uncluttered acoustic instrumentation, he’s never sounded better. Richly rewarding…. Stomp & Stammer
The ever prolific writer will release Slow Burn in January 2014, featuring 9 new songs recorded at John Keane Studios, Chase Park Transductions and 1093 Boulevard. The new release showcases Morton’s propensity to rock and his prowess on electric guitar.
Morton is currently working on another batch of recordings on which he performs all the instruments set to drum tracks. There seems to be no stopping for this amazing songwriter!
