Klezmaniacs

The Klezmaniacs were founded as a teen klezmer band on Boston's North Shore by Cantor Ken Richmond in 1995. The band grew to include up to a dozen teens, and some stayed in the band as they entered college and beyond. They performed over 200 concerts and recorded 3 CD's. In the summer of 2000, they toured Poland, Ukraine, and Israel. The band occasionally reunites for a concert. Fiddler and singer Ken Richmond is now the Cantor and Family Educator of Temple Israel of Natick, and lead singer and accordionist Shira Shazeer is the Director of the Jewish Birth Network. Trombonist and multi-instrumentalist Jason Moses lives in Northampton and plays klezmer with Klezamir and Afrobeat with Shokazoba Afrofunk Ensemble. Other band members on the album include Ben Gerson on accordion/piano, Josh Martin on clarinet, Billy Shube on trumpet, Michelle Bernstein on fiddle, Dov Shazeer on special effects, and guest Matt Temkin on drums.
