Burkina Faso meets Senegal in Europe and Brazil! This band is influenced by blues, samba, reggae and traditional African music and blends all these flavors into a delicate and warm sound. The wonderful Brazilian singer Ceumar and the brothers Moussa and Adama Dembélé from Burkina Faso add their voices to this unique sounding group from 3 continents.

Kokoura: ‘Anitié’ – www.myspace.com/kokoura
The 7-piece group Kokoura brings music from 3 continents together : the polyrythms and broken melodies, hot Afrobeat, and strong vocals ( Moussa and Adama Dembele) , mellow sunshine and subtile sambahappiness from Brazil in the peacefull voice of singer Ceumar and the Western jazzy sax improvisations of Producer Ben Mendes. All is wonderfullly recorded. But all this attention for details can work out wrong. Like here. In the rich sound colors there are just a few moments where an instrument frees itself from the background to tell a story. The parties are movinf around eachother too much and creates a lack of direction.
However: this is a worldmusic production that rises above many continental cross-over music en puts down a warm vibe without any pretentions. For sure a promise for the future, but preferably less mellow.Armand Serpenti
