Kill Kurt Reifler is an American, two-piece, rock-and-roll band comprised of Kurt Reifler on vocals and guitar and Justin Kill Stoddard on drums. Their debut album, Sure as the Swing of a Pendulum, will be released on March 29th, 2011.
Kill Kurt Reifler is the latest in a series of musical collaborations between Kurt and Kill, which began with several tours in support of Kurt’s solo album in 2007. The following year, Kurt embarked on a solo tour of the United States and performed at least one show in each of the contiguous states during his well-documented “48 in ‘08” tour. Upon reuniting in Thailand during their independent global travels in 2010, Kurt and Kill decided to pick up where they had left off three years earlier. Combining their names to form their new identity, Kill Kurt Reifler promptly settled in Melbourne, Australia and recorded their debut album, analogue to tape, in three days. Sure as the Swing of the Pendulum was self-produced and was mixed by Kill’s brother, Dylan Stoddard.
The album is a loosely-based tribute to Kurt’s late grandfather, Allan Hinckley, who, as a life-long trumpet player, gladly provided Kurt and Kill with rehearsal space until his death. Allan’s playful banter can be heard as a unifying theme throughout the album.
Kill Kurt Reifler completed their Australian tour this past November and will be touring the United States in support of Sure as the Swing of the Pendulum for the majority of 2011.
