Lev Shelo, meaning “His heart” in Hebrew, is a Messianic Jewish contemporary band comprised of Jewish and Gentile members. In the last 20 years, religious music has “crossed over” from a very limited audience of like-mindedness to a broader one that includes people of various faiths and persuasions, in common seasons of life’s ups and downs. It is in that vein that Lev Shelo seeks to relate on all levels of the pursuit of joy and peace, success and harmony in our varying communities, with an emphasis on the challenge to seek these things through Yeshua (Jesus) of the Bible. Their music is uplifting, celebratory, reflective and meaningful. Praise and gratitude are offered to the God of Israel, with a clear, inclusive invitation to acknowledge Him to all who would believe. It is also the stated purpose of Lev Shelo to teach the Gentile church her Hebrew beginnings - roots - if you will, and to reach out to the greater Jewish community in a challenge to consider the possibility that Yeshua is the promised messiah.
With a cultural bent of traditional Jewish lore and melodies, Lev Shelo manages to capture the childhood memories of many growing up in Jewish homes. Their music is familiar and endearing. For many others, it is a first-time experience to hear their unique style and presentation. Guitar, vocals, violin, classical piano all work in concert much like a conversation between old friends. From driving tempos to worshipful ballads, there is something in their repertoire for everyone to enjoy.
