La Voz is Danielle Cardona and Alex Simon’s electronic music collaboration. The project’s sound is inspired by early New Wave and disco acts like Depeche Mode, Prince, The Eurythmics, Rick James, ABBA, Bee-Gees, Donna Summer, and Thelma Houston (to name a few), and some of it’s key influences also include David Bowie, Shirley Manson, Goldfrapp, and Nico.
Singer, songwriter, and New York native Danielle Cardona emerged in the NYC Fashion scene as a model in the early 2000s. Writing and music had always been a passion of Danielle's, but they became her main focus in early 2010 when she began collaborating with Alex Simon. Danielle’s interest in Art and Fashion play a large role in both her writing and performance.
Guitarist Alex Simon draws Inspiration from the legendary Gypsy virtuoso Django Reinhardt, and the modern day guitar master Marc Ribot (with whom he has studied and performed). Simon is best known for his gypsy jazz performances at internationally renowned cocktail lounges Milk and Honey, Pegu Club, Hotel Delmano, and The Norwood. He has masterfully incorporated the sound into La Voz, imbuing the band with a unique, global feel.
