LatenzaZero

Biography

LatenzaZero represents the strive to connect worlds and experiences lived over a
certain period of time. Behind this desire of expression there are two Italian boys,
Bernardo Di Sabatino and Stefano Cascioli.
Separately, both have fed their own passion for music measuring themselves with
sounds in the most disparate contexts: Bernardo Di Sabatino is technically educated
by approaching the study of the classical guitar and musical theory; he constitutes
several bands of English pop and new-wave music, he studies singing, writes songs
and is fascinated by the first "four-tracks" and by "reel recorders" and lives as a
protagonist the late 80’s, embodying the stylemes of this fertile and contagious
period.
Although preserving his own roots, the following years will be those of his discovery
of overseas music: jazz in all its forms and the stories of its main musicians, he also
studies styles and the expressive techniques.
He writes about African-American music, organizes concerts and listens to almost
anything. Eclectic as he is, he, at the same time, becomes an enthusiast of the
“clubbing” movement and listens to d’n'b, trip-hop and chill-out; because the "genre",
country-music apart, doesn't count to him.
Always in the continuous search of the old and the new he finds a ring of conjunction
in the technology applied to the music, it acquires knowledges in "sound engineering"
and "computer-music" pushing himself in depth, until in the territories of the "sound-
design."
Before exploring the world of the electronic music, Stefano Cascioli devotes years to
the study of the piano, classical and jazz. He develops a deep knowledge of the
instrument, participating, as a session-man, to sessions and live tours; he concentrates
on listening to music by artists with a strong “progressive” extraction in the rock
panorama and to “fusion” in the jazz one. At that time, the action to unite the colours
of the instruments and to obtain sounds with the mixer become natural and
indispensable gestures. And when he unites to this his passion for synths, first real
ones then virtual, he is already captured by the pleasant obsession to find his own
sound.
LatenzaZero is the synthesis of these two personalities, which meet in 2006, and
produce on their own a mini CD entitled “TrueLounge Project”, issued by the net label Sojus Records. The project receives wide consents on Internet and also becomes the
object of a summer tour realised with an original set-up of electro-acoustic and virtual
instruments.
LatenzaZero represents the desire to stimulate improvisation, to respectfully spread it
through technical devices, and to suit it with the tone that fits it better. It is an
interpretation of the experience of the moment that seeks the beauty of the sound so
to return to look for us tomorrow.
