Laurie Klaus has been accompanying musicians for many years. For over a decade, she served as a staff accompanist at Catawba College, where she accompanied vocal and instrumental students, student performances, classes, and musical productions. She hopes to benefit music students in their private practice through making the piano accompaniments of commonly studied pieces available for download, by which a student or teacher may rehearse even when a piano or pianist are not present. In fact, the freedom of having an accompaniment downloaded will offer the student the opportunity to rehearse anywhere, any time. Through her recordings, Mrs. Klaus' desire to meet the rehearsal needs of her students has now expanded to students all over the globe.
The recipient of Catawba College's 2010 Blue Masque Honorary Patron award, Mrs. Klaus has also had the honor of receiving Metrolina Theatre Association's Outstanding Musical Direction Award for the 2006-2007 season for her musical direction of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. That year, she was also honored to be nominated to Who's Who in America. She was the second recipient of Piedmont Players Theatre's award for outstanding volunteerism, the Clyde Award. She has also been listed in Who's Who in America's Colleges and Universities and Who's Who in America's High Schools.
