Lava

Lava (Lana O'Keefe) - currently a Vancouver performer, bellydance instructor, musician, as well as director and choreographer of Tribal Fusion bellydance troupe “Sisters of Alchemy”.
Canadian performer Lava (based in Vancouver BC) started in a variety of dance styles at a very young age. Growing up in a small town in the interior of BC, she gravitated towards theatre, and all things rock n roll. While attempting to compose music with various instruments and starting bands/musical projects through her teens, she also took dance classes, having discovered another way to appreciate and savour music. Studying many different styles of dance (jazz, tap, modern, ballet, and more - including Can Can) Lava discovered her flair for music and movement.

Lava took classes and workshops whenever possible, with Fat Chance Belly Dance and practiced on her own, until she started a group of her own, which later (2004) developed into her now Tribal Fusion Dance Company - Sisters of Alchemy. The performance was always still fueled by her musical choices to create a musical presentation as well as a dance performance.

Lava has taught and performed bellydance for over 10 years, and nationally and internationally since 2007, dabbling in musical composition along way, she practiced her skills for editing music, as well as practicing/learning several instruments. Having a wide variety of musical interests, over the years, Lava made composed many different styles of music. Being an instructor, for over 10 years, she received many requests for music, especially music to practice bellydance to, from students. "Vessel Experiments" is the first collection of dance practice tracks, that she has released. (More to come!)

Lava produces her dance company "Sisters of Alchemy", which she has developed (SOA)'s style into its "rockin-lockin", "smooth-groove", "grounded-beauty" & "Kick up Your Heels-nonstop-Rock n Roll ride"!

She also produces her Tribal dance nights "Sisters of Alchemy's Tribal Soiree" - Lava's Student Dance night & Tribal Mixer!, and SOA's full length show "Dark Arts & Parlour Tricks". (Lava is currently producing new works for "Dark Arts & Parlour Tricks" - 2012 version)

In addition to her dance career, Lava is also working on her clothing/costume design project "Sideshow Frock n Roll Collection", and working towards producing more music.
