LEGLESS “Diva Demolition” NEW ALBUM RELEASED 11/11/11

ALL GIRL, PUNK ROCKERS LEGLESS.... here’s what you need to know:
Legless formed in Adelaide 2005 inspired by an Arts South Australia recording project called “Show Us Your Riffs” which featured female contemporary musicians. The band was lead by Kylie Cowling on vocals and bass, who at the time was the lead singer and bass player for Kaleidoscope. Other members included prominent Adelaide singer song writer Ria Loof and drummer Jamie Martin. Guitarist, Sherree Newton joined in 2006 and from there Legless began a heavy schedule of touring and recording, with gigs in Toyko and the release their first studio album, “13 Killer Tracks”.

Since the band’s inception, playing live and musicianship has been a large focus. While being a girl band is a novelty to most, it’s a joke if you don’t play well. Legless honed their skills on the road early in their career in the old Aussie tradition of playing original and covers in country pubs in Victoria, Adelaide Hills and mining towns such as Roxby Downs, Port Augusta, Ceduna and Port Lincoln. Still to this day the band continues this tradition, performing in country QLD areas such as Bundaberg, Gympie, Chinchilla, Tenterfield, Toogoolawah, etc.

In 2007 the band saw numerous member changes with singers interchanging as the Nurse, and despite the turmoil the band released a second studio album in 2008 titled ”Finding Mr. Perfect”. Featuring a punk cover version of “Advance Australia Fair” and Utube favourites “Nutter” and “Get My Knickers Off”. Legless were invited by the Australian Defence Force to tour East Timor.

It was a surprise to the girls when in late 2009, just after stating recording the third album, singer Eva Grzelack left the band. It was decided Legless would stay a three piece with Kylie cowling returning to lead vocal. Soon after, Legless won “Best Punk Song” for “Drinking Tonight” in the largest ever independent music competition in the world, the JPF Awards held in Tennessee, US. The album, “Finding Mr. Perfect” was runner up “Best Punk Album”. The girls filmed a video clip to commemorate the win, which features a Hummer and various Adelaide media personalities.

2010 was a year of major change for Legless. Two of three members relocated from Adelaide to Brisbane, which saw drummer Jamie Martin step aside (to become a Mum) with Bobae Jeon taking over the role as drummer. By June the band had started writing new songs and performing all around Brisbane, at Rollerderby, skydiving Festivals and inner city gigs as well as regional pubs.
With many rock tours under their belt and a series of great articles in the Australian music media over the last few years, you can trace a solid history. Now with some great gigs coming up and a ripper third album you can predict a bright future for Legless.

Legless are inspired by the great rock bands of our time. The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Guns N Roses, Joan Jett. Throw some punk and glam rock into the mix (think Sex Pistols, Kiss and Alice Cooper) then add a dash of Aussie greats such as ACDC, Living End, Radiators, British India , the Divinyls, Hoodoo Gurus.

Schoolgirl Amanda – Kylie Cowling – lead vocals, bass guitar
Policewoman Shazza – Sherree Newton – guitar, vocals
Nurse Jade – Jade Jeon – drums, vocals.
