After 5 years in New York City, Bassist/Composer Lelah Simon returned home to Denver, Colorado to record and release her first album as bandleader, Third Week of April. Described by Westword as “gorgeous and expansive,” the album contains seven of her own jazz compositions. Lelah began backing up vocalists at the age of 16 at Denver's Dazzle Jazz. She studied under Ron Miles and other local luminaries at Metro State College of Denver before moving to New York City. While attending The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, she took lessons with Buster Williams and George Garzone (amongst many others) and began composing. She recently relocated to Los Angeles to pursue film scoring and songwriting. As a bassist, she loves to add tasty grooves to any style of music. As a composer, she creates an intimate, narrative soundtrack with songs that can get stuck in your head for days.
