Lenka Lichtenberg is a Canadian, Prague-born singer, composer, arranger, producer, ethnomusicologist and bandleader (Sisters of Sheynville, the Free Band, Di BAKL, The Bohemian Village Band). She is in the midst of a diverse career which sees her traveling across continents as a solo artist, with her trio and with her six piece ensemble. In the past year, Lenka performed at the Boskovice Festival in Czech Republic, Klezfiesta in Buenos Aires with guest German clarinet virtuoso Christian Dawid, at Chutzpah! in Vancouver, the Jewish Music Festival in San Francisco, and she also presented a concert of her original music in Yiddish in Tel Aviv. Her 2008 concert dates included London, (Spiro Ark), Prague (Jewish Town Hall, Spanish Synagogue), Tel Aviv (Leyvik House), Washington, D.C., and Holland (Etty Hillesum Center, Deventer). Earlier important performances (2004-2008) include: La fete de la musique in Geneva, Switzerland; Klezmore in Vienna; the Leeds International Festival of Performing Arts (UK); concerts in New York; Australia (Melbourne, Hobart) and at der Brücke/Most-Stiftung’s culture festival in Dresden, Gemany.
