Born and raised in the Chicago suburb of Mundelein in Illinois, Link Alastair Valiant began his musical journey at the age of six. His grandfather introduced him to playing music at this age with a clarinet and an electric organ. Eventually, he began learning to play saxophone and participating in school band programs.
Link spent most of his time in first and second chairs in his middle school and high school symphonic bands as an alto and baritone saxophonist. He also participated in these schools' jazz bands. His participations in the regional solo and ensemble contests usually resulted in first class medals and blue ribbons!
After taking a long break from music to pursue an education and career in information technology, Link took to the studio again writing and producing music for a couple of video games in 2002. Since then, he has gone back to college for an education in commercial music, studied vocal performance as a tenor, begun to write more music, performed live on stage, sung in church choirs, and released a soundtrack album to the aforementioned video games in the middle of 2005, as well as a three-song single in early 2013.
Today Link Valiant continues to write and produce his own music while singing in choirs and at performances. He continues to hone, spread, and expand on his art in writing, performing, and producing pop/rock music fusing in chiptune elements using 8-bit video game instrument samples. His website, www.linkavaliant.com, is designed to provide demos, photos, performance dates, and up-to-date information as it is available.
