Lin's

For Lin’s, song is truly second nature. Raised in Casablanca by artistically inclined parents, the young Moroccan-born Frenchwoman fell under music’s spell at the age of four. It was love at first hearing, and Lin’s quickly realized that her passion for singing and song was unconditional. Not surprisingly, no more than a few years went by before she was writing her own songs, and as a teenager she was already singing solo as part of a group at her high school. Inspired by her Mediterranean roots, before long the singer-songwriter was creating lyrics imbued with authenticity, giving voice to her joys and sorrows.
After communications studies in Morocco, Lin’s settled in Montreal and pursued her passion partly by honing her art with a number of voice teachers. From a diamond in the rough the young singer evolved bit by bit into a true professional. After a few years she found herself ready to make a major move. Discovering the French reality-TV program À la recherche de la nouvelle star (In Search of the New Star), which airs on channel M6, she decided to move to France temporarily to try her luck in the 2005 edition of the show. With her unique style, she was the first candidate from the Paris area to be selected for the show’s second stage, the one before the finals, but unfortunately, any possibility of carrying off top prize slipped away when she was eliminated on the pretext of not sticking to the complete text of her song. Whatever the case, learning to overcome failure is a necessary step for anyone aiming for the top.
In Montreal once more, Lin’s got back to work and performed regularly in the company of her musicians. Her easy manner on stage, her crooner-tinged style and her jazzy-pop sensibility captured the ear of a growing public. In 2009 she undertook a project she’d been dreaming of since the days she did her first singing exercises in Casablanca – making an album that was a true reflection of her own self, daring and uncompromising. The perfectionist in her was unable to accept half measures, so songs were fine-tuned, new compositions were added, and nothing was left to chance in creating a recording on a par with her talent. In the end the process stretched over more than two years, but it was well worth the wait. With DeadFairy, which would be released in April 2012, Lin’s made her official entrance with a bang: an album of original songs with arrangements as rich as the emotions are deep.
