Lisa L. Gilliam received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Drama with a minor in vocal music performance from Virginia Union University (VUU) in 1995. She went on to receive a Master of Arts degree in Education and Human Development with a concentration in Community Counseling from the George Washington University (GWU) in 1999. Lisa has been employed as a counselor, consultant, and educator at a college as well as in DC Metropolitan areas schools and non-profit agencies. Artistically, she has worked as a radio co-host, writer, poet, booking agent, promotions coordinator, and vocalist.
Lisa is also the President and Founder of Gilliam VOCALS, Inc. VOCALS is an acronym for Vocalist, Orator, Consultant, Actress, Lyricist, and Saved, all describing characteristics of Lisa. The mission of the corporation is to use the performance, literary, and communication arts to uplift, encourage, and enhance the lives of people who have been emotionally or physically hurt.
