Lise Winne is an award-winning musician and songwriter and the member of two bands, Saratoga Faire and The Spirites Consort.
Lise won a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to record “The Goldenrod” CD. The CD has also been on the list of recommended CDs at CD Baby in the New Age Adult Alternative category. If you like sophisticated lyrics that can stand alone as poetry (with double entendres in the title track!), music that is not easily categorized and angelic vocals you might enjoy “The Goldenrod”.
Her “Wing’d With Hopes, New Interpretations of Renaissance Songs” that she recorded with The Spirites Consort has been on the top selling Renaissance CDs at CD Baby. If you like John Dowland and Thomas Campion, an innovative approach in a folk/classical hybrid, or the Renaissance period, you might enjoy “Wing’d With Hopes, New Interpretations of Renaissance Songs.” This CD was made before Sting’s “Songs from the Labyrinth” and features many of the same songs. Compare the two if you like!
Her band, Saratoga Faire, finished their CD, “Saratoga Romance”, in September of 2009. It is a collection of Celtic New Age style vocal tunes and fresh new instrumentals which range from O’Carolan (Celtic) to smooth jazz and a stunning interpretation of “Far Away” by Peter Jung and a bright happy tune that Blackmores Night made famous called “Wind in the Willows.” It is available here at CD Baby by following this link: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/saratogafaire
Lise has performed at such diverse venues as The Everson Museum of Art, Troy Music Hall, Irish 2000 and The Dance Flurry Festival.
She is also a visual artist and much of her art is in the same “genres” as her music: Celtic-inspired and Renaissance-inspired. One artistic discipline inspires another the way it did for William Morris (one of her heroes).
