LITHA - Celtic Crossroads
A new name for one of the best new bands of the last few years. With their debut album "until the cows come home" as "2duos", the four musicians from Scotland and Germany caused a wave of excitement, especially amongst the media people and musicians. "Until the cows come home" is a favourite album of many dedicated music lovers and has been compared to bands like the legendary Planxty. Now the time has come for the 2duos to become one band - Litha! Litha is an old name for the month of June and the midsummer feast, which is the time of year when the members of Litha first met at a festival in the South of England.
Litha are an equally strong song- and tune-band. With two fantastic lead singers, four part harmonies, fiery fiddles, box and flute and a rhythm section that has been referred to as "the dream team", there's nothing the quartet can't do.
Four renowned and award winning musicians from Europe - two from Scotland and two from Germany - all with a shared passion and love for traditional music. This highly original musical combination has discovered the common ground and kinship between two great traditions and blended them into a new and exciting sound. Litha have been wowing both audiences and critics alike and since their first major tour of Germany in 2008 and the band have gone from strength to strength performing at festivals and venues throughout Europe and the USA. Their passion, experience and musicality have proven to be a huge success amongst both audiences and promoters and their debut album, 'Until the Cows Come Home' has received great critical acclaim since its release in 2009.
