Lochan Rijal is an ethnomusicologist, a multi-instrumetalist singer-songwriter currently working on his new album. He has won several national awards for his albums and an international award for his performance. His music blends various musical genres to poetic form that create multi-layered allusions and symbolic parallels drawn from every day life. His music does not follow any specific style. He composes his music on sarangi, arbaja and guitar.
In the last year, he has travelled across Nepal working with various ethnic musicians especially the Gandharvas. Apart from being a professional musician,he has more than decade of experience as a music educator. He is also the UN Youth Advocate for the Millennium Development Campaign. At present he is working as the lecturer at the Department of Music, Kathmandu University and on his PhD research.
