Lord Bubba's Nu-Jazz Project is an acid-jazz/contemporary jazz act based out of Toronto, Canada. The band combines the sounds of jazz, funk, soul, and bossa and combines it with more traditionally electronic elements such as house and drum & bass. What you get is an organic, funky style of jazz that is not just fun to listen to, but makes you feel inspired to dance or to sit back and listen.
What Lord Bubba's Nu-Jazz Project does is infuse many elements of dance and groove music but never forgets that it is first and foremost a jazz act. Some might say that this band is bringing the "jazz" back to contemporary jazz and acid jazz. Their sound is reminiscent of acts such as Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, Quantic Soul Orchestra, and London Elektricity. Their vibe is energetic, the improvisations are inspiring and the tunes are sexy. They could become one of your favourite jazz acts.
Lord Bubba's Nu-Jazz Project consists of Elena Kapeleris on saxophone, Scott Metcalfe on keyboards, Rich Brisco on drums, Rino Manfredi on percussion and Lord Bubba on bass. Each member has huge amounts of experience performing in the jazz, funk/R&B, and Latin music scenes from the local level to international touring. All of this experience and energy comes together to play a music that both makes you groove, makes you move and most importantly, entertains your senses.
