Luke Flynn

Luke Flynn (b. 1988) has had his compositions performed throughout the world, including commissions and performances by professional symphony orchestras, choirs, and ensembles in Japan, Ukraine, China, France, Australia, South Korea, the Czech Republic, and throughout the U.S. He has also won or has placed as a finalist in a multitude of national and international composition contests. Most recently, the Sydney Australia Contemporary Orchestra call for scores, the South Korea Busan Maru International Composition Contest (orchestra) 부산마루국제음악제, the Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute, the CSUN Orchestra Northridge Composition Prize, the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus Composition Competition, the Ablaze Records Orchestral Masters composition contest, the Lexington Philharmonic New Music Experiment, the American Prize in Composition, and the SCI/ASCAP Student Composition Competition. Flynn has also scored a variety of films and video games, as well as proofed scores for many major motion pictures such as Star Wars: Episode VII, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. Flynn holds a master of music composition degree from Butler University, where he studied with Michael Schelle and was a double graduate assistant in composition and music technologies. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Clarke University, where he studied with Amy Dunker, and is the recipient of the University’s most prestigious award honored to a single graduating senior, the Francis J. O’Connor Memorial Award, and has also had the privilege of being the first-ever American student to study music composition at 鹿児島国際大学, the International University of Kagoshima in Japan, where he studied with Tadashi Kubo.
