Mambo LeBron Music Page

Angel 'Mambo' LeBron, Jr. Bassist • Musical Director • Producer Arranger • Songwriter

Mambo was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was born into a musical family “The LeBron Brothers” who were reaching great popularity with their hit song “Salsa y Control”. At the age of five, Mambo started playing conga drums with his family's band The LeBron Brothers at local venues, amazing viewers as they looked on. Mambo got his nickname MAMBO at that age because he would play only when his favorite part of the songs would start, the mambo sections.
As a teenager, Mambo started playing the bass guitar as well as percussion instruments joining small rock bands and performing at events in high school.. Throughout high school, Mambo had performed for all of his school concerts and theatrical events. In 1987, Mambo formed a freestyle group and signed a record deal with Fever Records, owned by Sal Abbatiello. Mambo's first producing and writing credits were on his debut single 'Fade Away' by his group 'Magic Touch featuring Jackie Santana which was formed by Mambo and his cousin Edwin Acevedo (percussionist/songwriter). After that he joined forces with Andy 'Panda' on a few projects, including Raianna Paige's 'Open Up Your Heart' on Sleeping Bag Records.
In 1991 Mambo discovered a new group consisting of three cousins from Brooklyn. Mambo called them 'VOYCE'. With Mambo's knowledge and experience, Mambo took Voyce to a new level of Freestyle music. With the collaboration of Carlos Berrios, 'Within My Heart' became a hit charting on Billboard magazines top 100 singles reaching #48 staying on the charts for over 15 weeks. In 1996 Mambo resumed playing bass and Latin Percussion instruments developing his style of electric bass to the Salsa scene following his inspirations, Angel LeBron, Sr. (his Father) and Ruben Rodriguez. This was his time to re-join his first love of music, Salsa. Mambo first joined a group that landed him performances with Hector Tricoche and Cano Estremera until he was offered an opportunity to tour with Brenda K Starr. While touring with Brenda K Starr, Mambo toured with other artists' as well, such as, Tito Nieves, Jose “El Canario” Alberto, Michael Stuart, D'Mingo, Frankie Negron and dozens more.
With the new experience Mambo had explored, he went on to becoming a musical director for artists' like his sister Corrine, George Lamond, Frankie Negron and Son By Four. All of this had lead Mambo to becoming one of New York's rising Salsa bassist's and musical director's. Mambo is still touring with Brenda K. Starr as her bassist and musical director, and is also performing with his own group called Mambo Orchestra of New York.
With no formal musical education, Mambo went on and did what he loved to do…music. With the support of his family and friends, Mambo is still learning something new every day and has created a family atmosphere in all of his musical endeavors. Mambo has opened his own Record Label called TAINO Records and has released his first salsa single entitled "S.A.L.S.A.". Joining Mambo is Edwin Lebron (vocalist, musician and songwriter) who together, will continue to bring Salsa music to all. “Our goal is to inspire those who have dreams and those who wish to keep our music alive forever”...Mambo's personal quote goes something like this:
"Do not give up on your dreams, because dreams do come true…"
