MC Mjd

Would you spray your own bedroom with graffiti for a music video?

This guy did.

MC MJD is a progressive hip hop artist from the NSW/Vic border district (Australia) who in 2 short years has hit multiple stages in Sydney, Melbourne and Albury with his quirky ‘hold no prisoners’ approach to story telling and tales of the world as he sees it around him.

He was main support for Spit Syndicate's 2013 Indent Tour and has supported or been supported by the likes of DJ Matik, Electric Elements, Kings Gambit, Big Dip, BMac, Dibe, Stretchy, GIO, Diamonds Emcee and Calculus.

Looking back, MC MJD hit the ground running in January 2012 with his first self produced song ‘Screens’ going to No. 1 on the national Triple J unearthed hip hop charts.

This was closely followed by an invitation to join Fallen Pony Music’s ‘Suicide Watch v1’ hip hop youth suicide prevention project, that resulted in a feature track and two collaborations on the first volume in 2012.

"I first came across MC MJD while searching for local hip hop artists via Triple J unearthed... I loved his quirky sound, the undeniable feral factor and the sneaky twists of humor in his words."

The relationship continued and MC MJD recorded his debut EP ‘I’m a No One’ and it was released digitally through Fallen Pony Music in December 2012.

The first single and EP title track prompted a graffiti attack on his own bedroom, that was captured for youtube. A year after the ‘Official’ video was released, a second before unseen version that documented the artwork was released.

The second single ‘My Promise to You’ received numerous reviews on Triple J unearthed and a Beats Factory single review:

"MC MJD has a knack of being able to tell a story with a sense of desperation in his flow... He has you hanging on every lyric, every rhyme and you genuinely believe in the words he is delivering...”

The third and final single ‘Curse of Procrastination’ came to visual life in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, carrying its metaphorical messages surrounding the curse and MJD’s battle to be free of it.
