Marc Lawson is a composer, songwriter and musician currently living in the Atlanta, GA area. Originally from Orlando, FL, he first started playing music at the age of 14 when he taught himself how to play the drums. He quickly got his first gig playing in the church band and eventually made his way out into Atlanta’s blues scene as a live player and “jammer”.
With a natural gift for melody, it’s no surprise that Marc eventually turned towards the piano as his primary instrument. He also discovered that he could sing, so he traded the drumsticks for a vocal mic and started playing anywhere he could – in bars, coffee shops and venues all over town.
On one night in particular, Marc encountered a songwriter competition while out playing. Inspired by the creativity of the performers, he made a deal with himself. “Just one song,” he thought. A few weeks later, that “one song” had grown into three and landed him in the final round of the same competition.
Since then, Marc has written dozens of songs and released two EP’s of his original music – These Empty Streets (2009) and Another Night Alone (2011). He is a regular performer at Atlanta venues such as Smith’s Olde Bar and Eddie’s Attic and has played on the main stage of festivals including the Taste of Chamblee, the Dunwoody Art Festival and the Greenprints Alliance Streetfest in Woodstock.
In addition to playing live, Marc also works as a composer for film and TV, writing electronic and orchestral music for indie films and animation shorts. As a lifelong fan of film music, he is excited about this new direction in his career and where it may lead.
With a growing list of IMDb credits, a well-established presence in the songwriter community, and a desire to reach as many people as possible, one can only imagine what the future holds for this talented and creative individual.
