Marcy Baruch

Biography

Marcy Baruch is a weaver of psyche, story, soul, and song. She is a musical and spiritual artist who infuses live concert spaces and human-yearning places with a "make you want to weep, pray, and make love" voice. She comes to her audiences with a grace that is both fierce and courageous, and an openness whose driving force asks the question, "What is it to perceive, know, and embody the Divine, and what is it to live one's life as a unique expression of it?"

Marcy's work dives into the inner sanctum of what is holy and saturated with the allness of love. Meeting people in their stories--in their deepest longings and sweetest ecstasies, with insights that help connect the threads of greater narratives--is what the revelation of her writing does beautifully. In her songs, pain is transformed into possibility; what hides in shadow is traced back to its source, and liberated into greater light; infinite compassion holds the listener intimately. She lives inside the tikkun, or fixing, of what is possible in each human being's life and in the evolution of love itself as it moves through the cosmos. Marcy's song "This inner Space" won the emPower Music & Arts 2009 Posi Award for the Best Healing Song. "Here I Am," a song born of on-her-knees trust and devotional triumph, was a finalist in the same category in 2010. In 2008 her bagpipe-driven march, "The Strength Of Love," was a finalist in the Group Chant category. After the release of her 2nd CD, "Clearly," she was named among the nation's Top Ten independent female singer/songwriters by Femmusic Magazine.

As someone who delights in touching open worlds within worlds, hers is one where the reverent and the irreverent get along just fine. Of her spirit and music, one critic mused, "Marcy Baruch strides confidently through her kick-up-the-dirt songs with steel-toed vocals and a carefree, reckless zest for life. She is more fun than spiked punch at a barn dance... offering many show-stopping, breath-taking, goosebump-raising moments."

It is indeed in service to the moments that take our breath away that Marcy finds her music and life unfolding. For in these moments, something of the Spirit is recognized again. And in the breath that returns, our deeper gifts of love and grace are more clearly revealed.

Marcy is currently celebrating the release of her third CD, "The Strength Of Love."
