Marika Takeuchi is a composer, pianist and orchestrator, currently based in Boston.
Born in Kawasaki, Japan, she began her studies in music at the age of 3 as a classical pianist. She soon demonstrated her strong interests in music by playing violin and french horn for years as well.
She started her study and careers in composition at the age of 18, her works have been featured in a Japanese radio program, major TV show and Universal Music Japan during her study at a Japanese music college. She extended her musical interests into film music and new age music, as she strongly believes that films and healing music have changed her life, and could help others through them too.
In 2009, she came to the US to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music. She has scored independent short films including the acclaimed "The Arctic Light", released her debut new age album "Night Dream" in 2011. Her score "The Arctic Light" has been licensed for many advertisements and short films in US, Europe and Australia and so on. After her graduation from Berklee in 2012, she has been working as a freelance composer, orchestrator and copyist for independent films and projects, also currently working on her new album.
