BIOGRAPHY
Mark Batten-O'Donohoe was born in 1966 and grew up in the hills of the Fassifern region of SE Qld Australia. Raised by his mother and grandmother who were both excellent musicians in their own right, Mark grew up with a healthy diet of everything country and oldtime, from Bobby Gentry to Bill Monroe to The Carter Family. During his time living in the city of Brisbane, Mark played the rock stuff (and still does), but when he moved back to the area he grew up, that inner voice called him back to his country roots. Taking up mandolin, banjo and fiddle, Mark has even been spotted playing fiddle in the cemetary his GrandMa, Lucy Zahnow, is buried in.
"She was so good, and such an inspiration. I suppose I like to play to her, but also hope she gives up a little of her talent to me." Mark says.
Mark has played Tamworth Music festival in 2010 & 2011 and in 2012 is concentrating on local gigs and reshaping his old time roots.
