Marlene Hershey hosted her own TV show entitled "Hearthside Hymns"; which aired for 17 years on the NBC affiliate station WGAL-TV in Lancaster PA. On her TV show, Marlene performed on the piano, organ, and sang, including her daughters at times as well as other guests. She also had a radio program on WBYO-FM in Boyertown, PA called "Musical Moments." People still recognize her on the streets many years later.
Between 1966 and 2010, she has taught piano and has often had a waiting list of musicians wanting to be taught by her. Remarkably, she only took one year of piano lessons; but was able to sight-read and arrange her own music. She taught herself how to play the organ.
She has played piano and organ at numerous weddings and concerts and, with her daughters, at many Mother-Daughter banquets. Her daughters also joined her, as the Hershey-ettes, at many church concerts in churches. And they performed together on the "Grand Old Gospel Hour" at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN with Roy Acuff as the MC.
