Biography

Thanks for stopping by....

I love to sing. I always have, and as more time passes, I know I always will. I love the process of songwriting.
It speaks to me and in turn I get to speak to you. The sense of community I have felt lately has led me to collaborate
with many different artists. The online community is impressive and the resources seemingly infinite. I am currently
writing new material with these creative and artistic souls.

I started out singing songs in front of my family. Didn't most of us do that? When we were about 11 years old,
my cousin Jim & I would gather up my brother Joel & his sister Colleen and we would get a whole band going for
some of our family shows. Shortly after that Jim & I wrote our first and only song (he's now an accountant). I think it
was called School Sucks... LOL! Go figure. I still remember most of it and have the Lyrics kickin' around somewhere.

My Dad owned a Chevron Station in Coquitlam, BC while I was growing up. I started working there when I was 11,
and continued until I was 19. Although I began singing at 2, this was where my singing days really took off. I would
grab an air hose and hold it on top of the shop broom as if it were my Mic & Cable. I would start wailing away anything
that I was listening to at the time, but one day I got caught singing probably the worst song you could imagine
(if someone was watching you that is)... Samantha Fox's "Touch Me". Looking back on it, it's kind of funny really.
Mike Roy, the drummer in a local band was getting gas and happened to be out of his car and heard singing in the
distance. He walked up to the Bay Doors, (I had no idea how long he'd been there) watched for a bit and then said
"Hey, do you want to be in a band?" I stopped and thought to myself, this guy must be kidding. I just said "sure!"

After many cancelled tryouts for the band, we finally jammed at Bruce's (bass player at the time) house a couple
weeks later. They gave me this crappy Radio Shack microphone that was plugged into an even crappier Traynor
guitar amp. I remember it like it was yesterday. The first song was Bryan Adams' "Hidin' From Love" and while I
sang the first line: "I'm ridin' in the middle, half way into you" I looked over at Mike and the smile on his face said it all.
The song ended and Mike said "You're in!"

The band went through many members but I learned over the years that that's how things go with bands. Either
someone quits or just doesn't commit. The guitar player, Jeff Fairbank and I, always stuck together. We went through
a lot of members trying to find the right chemistry, coming close a few times but things just didn't pan out. After 10
years together Jeff and I decided to branch out and do separate projects. We kept in touch, but never played together much.
We've written a song or two and jammed a couple times while continuing to be good friends. I just recently
contacted Jeff because he is now a professional photographer. With my new CD coming out, I needed pictures done
and who better to call than a guy I've known since I was 13. Check out Jeff's website @ www.jdfairbankphotography.com

I have been writing for the upcoming CD for about 8 years now. I decided on the 10 songs that I think are the best,
and mean the most to me. I've wanted to do this since I was 15 and it's been one hell of a ride putting it together.
Work and family became my priority, along with a little fear, but I just knew it was time to get this thing out of my studio!
