The 23 year old singer-songwriter-dancer is the first artist to work under the Gold Street label out of Huntsville, Alabama. "We just saw something in him. You listen to him talk about his passion and you instantly know, he's a star," Brandon continues. Currently working on his first album "Find Your Heart," Marquis talks about his first project.
"The feeling of working on my first album is incredible and almost unreal. I finally get to see all my thoughts and ideas coming to fruition. I feel like my dreams are finally becoming reality," says Marquis.
The featured track "Love On the Run" is a modern day take on Romeo and Juliet, inspired by events from his own life. "It's a story about a man and a woman who are madly in love, but can't openly express it because of the jealousy and conflict surrounding it. They dream of running away together. It's a beautiful story."
Marquis Green was born March 29, 1989. His love for music started at a young age, influenced by Motown greats and pioneers in the industry. Marquis admits that times were hard when he was growing up, but credits his family and the musicianship of modern artists like Ne-yo, and R. Kelly, and classic greats like Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder to his success.
"I guess I finally came to understand the music that I fell in love with as I came up though the years - it was music that came from the heart and soul of the artist. I then realized the magic and beauty and power of lyrics, the limitless ways to express a persons inner thoughts and fantasies.”
"Music is something that's in your blood. It's a way of life. I find inspiration in everything and I want to capture it in every melody."
