Marti Rogers

Biography

Accompanying herself on the Autoharp, the guitar, or the mountain dulcimer, Marti Rogers sings a wide variety of songs in the folk genre from traditional ballads to 60’s and 70’s songwriters including some of her own composition. Marti brings to the stage many years of experience and study which she often draws upon to introduce her songs. In her strong, clear voice, she weaves a spell taking us back to simpler times when people sat on back porches, or around the hearth making their own music.

Alone, Marti’s solo performances are moving and memorable. When together with husband, Tom Levy, on bass or bodhran there is an extra depth, especially good for the “Americana” sound of mountain music, sea chanteys and songs of the old West..

Marti began performing in the '60's, and was a part of the New York City "folk scene." In addition to numerous concerts, coffee houses and clubs, she has performed at community centers, parks, fairs, festivals, nursing homes, retirement communities, churches, schools, the New York World's Fair, on radio, television and the internet.
