Matinée

Matinee are an established four piece Italian rock n roll band in Italy; however this Summer they all bravely flew their sunny nests to pursue their London rock n roll dreams. Matinee is: Luigi Tiberio (lead vocals/guitar/synth), Alf Ioannone (vocals/bass), Jos Cantoli (guitar) and Alex Palizzi (Drums). “City Lifestyle” is their official UK debut single release; a punchy, angular guitar, energetic number screaming out the sounds of British indie rock n roll as they sing about their new home; the city of London.

The band is named after Scotland’s very own Franz Ferdinand’s hit song; “Matinee” and they are all friends after supporting them in Italy. The Scotland connection goes deeper as music guru Jim Gellaty (Amazing radio) has championed the band with a recent interview and airplay support. To top the Scotland love affair off their new album to be released this October will be produced by Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Carl Barat, Teenage Fanclub, Super Furry Animals) which is already in agreement after he produced their current single: “City Lifestyle” and b-side “All the Good Fellas” in his Castle Of Doom Scotland studios.

So heading further south the band has played live at many key London venues including Death Disco (Creation Records; Alan McGee’s night) and the 100 Club. Matinee feel their roots are in 90s Brit pop but with a sprinkling of Italian glam rock thrown in for good measure. Their love of UK music shines through after support slots with Razorlight, Mystery Jets, The Futureheads, The Wombats, Pete and the Pirates and British Sea Power. These guys are ready for London but are you ready for them? a great British pop sound never dies so embrace Matinee and their love for our amazing capital, its extrovert characters and most of all the best music in the world.

“Killers style pop rock from the finds of the festival, Italian Quartet Matinee” NOTW@Haddow Festival; Edinburgh – Keith Smith

“A Fantastic debut, Matinee is too good for afternoon shows and will soon be the main event, more than copyists but future masters of the style” – Chris Philips BRFM radio.
