Maurice Cope is an experienced performer of the classical guitar and the lute. He studied at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama London under Antonio Albanes and later with Hector Quine, Professor of Guitar at the Royal Academy of Music London. Maurice has also attended classes under Andres Segovia at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Siena, Italy, and with Emilio Pujol in Lleida, Spain.
Following many years of study and performance he has gained an extensive working knowledge of the rich and varied concert repertoire of the classical guitar and the lute, including many of the major 20th/21st century works for the classical guitar. Maurice has played in several countries, and has appeared on both radio and television. He is also a noted interpreter of music from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, in particular for his classical guitar transcriptions and arrangements from the lute repertoire.
