Meera Patricia Kerr has been around for awhile. She travelled with an all-female band in the 70's,was signed to RCA records, played in cocktail lounges whenever possible, made some recordings with David Bowie's guitar hero, Mick Ronson, worked with Erica Jong on a musical version of Fear of Flying, then took some time off to raise a family. She continued to write for TV and film, but didn't continue in her singer-songwriter mode. A detour into yoga produced 2 DVDs and 2 books on Big Yoga--an adapted yoga providing resources for folks who live in bigger bodies, one of which won the Benjamin Franklin award for best book in Health and Wellness--Big Yoga: A Simple Guide for Bigger Bodies published by Square One publishers.
Water My Soul was released back in the day as a cassette, sort of a vanity project to honor her yoga guru, Swami Satchidananda. It's now being re-released with an additional track of Choral Kirtan, titled Divine Love. Meera also has an hour long chanting CD, of OM. It's ideal background music for a massage, yoga class, or meditation.
Meera's working hard to get back in the game, so look for her new album Lotus of Lotus, soon to launch in July of 2015. It will be a mashup of kirtan, bhajan and pop flavoured yoga songs. An eclectic mix!
