Melissa Veszi, better known by her stage name HunnyB, is a 1st generation Trinidadian‐Canadian singer, songwriter, actress, dancer and model. Daughter of Trinidadian-born Jennifer Encinas (Rommens), a singer in her own right, Melissa comes from a musical family, known movers and shakers in the Caribbean music scene. Trinidad's own "heart-throb," Stephen Encinas, is her uncle, who in 1997 began on the music scene with "Rock-a-Bye Baby Love" and "Disco Illusion." He is a sought-after instrumentalist, composer, singer, songwriter and producer, while her grandfather, Peter Encinas was the famed Joseph in the first rock musical in Trinidad and Tobago, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat,” and a finalist in many music festivals along with his daughter, Jennifer.
Performing nearly her entire life, HunnyB found herself indulging into the world of arts and entertainment at a very young age. She started taking ballet, jazz, and tap lessons, vocal and piano lessons and studied the likes of music icons such as Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, and the unforgettable Whitney Houston. Taking notice that her love for music was evolving into something greater, HunnyB knew whatshe had to do in order for her evolution to progress. Currently putting the final touches on her debut Album, HunnyB has come a long way from her humble beginnings and is now preparing herself for a lifelong career in pop music culture. “Music is in my heart and my blood,” says the singer. It’s that love that has been the driving force of her inevitable career. Making the stage her home away from home, she has had opportunities to perform all over Canada doing musical stage productions, in addition to singing the National anthem at an MLB game, and leaving sold out audiences at the National Ballet of Canada in complete awe at her talent. In addition to her pursuit as a musician, HunnyB has also become quite heavily involved in the film and television industry and has worked for shows on TNT, UPN, GLOBAL and CTV.
Now working with Namibian born hit-maker producer, NHD, HunnyB is creating a formula of hits that will change the state of pop‐music, as we know it. "Exploring rhythms from various cultures is very much part of the plan. My current project sounds like one hit after another," she laughs. "It will sound very poppy and yet unique. One of my dance tracks has the infusion of salsa, and her hit single Jack has been remixed into a Soca beat by hit producer Derek Brin. The ballads are sweet and heartfelt songs that hopefully are relatable to everyone listening,” says the singer. Her first two singles “The Unknown,” which is a pop ballad, and “Jack,” a sensual dance track, have already been released on iTunes, Amazon, and in all other online stores. Melissa “HunnyB” Veszi has also collaborated with renowned hip hop artist Joe Budden on a track called “Round and Round”...which is not yet released. All three tracks will appear on her upcoming Album set to release in 2013.
HunnyB has had the opportunity to explore multiple genres, which led her to find her musical liberation. She is not only able to write pop music, but because of her musical talent, is able to write all genres of music for other artists as well. With so much under her belt already, HunnyB will soon surpass her musical peers with her sweet angelic voice, and continue to buzz.
