Mellisa Mills

“Her voice is smoky, sexy, soothing and dangerous. Depending on her mood, it can heal a wound or start a fire. Mellisa Mills is a rare gem in Vancouver's experimental folk scene.”

—Luke Brocki, CBC Radio

Mellisas compelling compositions, vulnerable lyrics, and haunting melodies have been seducing audiences since 2005.

Mellisa Mills creates meticulously crafted soundscapes with electric guitars and programmed percussion found objects and low-fi tape recorders. Classical and pop sensibilities produce soundtracks that are both artistic and accessible. Often compared to the likes of Fiona Apple, Cat Power, and Bjork, Mellisa takes her place among these artists as one who is also inspired by the craft of songwriting and the power of performance.

Mellisa Mills debut Ep album, 'I am victorious', recorded at the Sound Lounge Studios, and was released on June 4th, 2010. The album is a stunning intricate tapestry with electronic, folk, and rock persuasions.

Armed with nothing more than an eloquently soulful voice, a six-string and a looping pedal, the experimental folk melodies delivered by Mellisa Mills are drenched in emotion. This intimate experience is explored further on-stage, where she exudes a charming confidence that captivates audiences. Mellisa will be spending the summer touring her release across Canada playing various festivals including the Vancouver folk festival,
Calgary AB independent art and music festival and pop Montréal to name a few.
