Michael Christopher

Biography

From the moment you first listen to a Michael Christopher song you’ll find yourself tapping your t oes and singing the songs in your head for days to come. Michael’s invocative storytelling and transfixing voice seem to paint a picture with lyrics and music. He’s fresh on the scene and brings a distinctive edge of showmanship and swagger to the country genre.

Despite growing up in a small town in the heart of rural Pennsylvania, singer-songwriter Michael Christopher didn’t discover country music until he was introduced to line dancing during his college years. The storytelling within the song “Neon Moon” made an impression on him, and from that moment he was hooked on the way country provided a narrative to the struggles and joys of everyday life. Michael always loved to sing and spend many weekends behind the microphone and at acoustic performances with friends. He found that the country genre really suited his style.

In order to bring his songs to life, Michael learned to play guitar. Recording artists like Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, and Dierks Bentley rotated into his playlist, and as more people gave positive feedback on his voice (his smooth baritone has been compared to Toby Keith and Josh Turner), he decided to combine that vocal talent with his love of storytelling. In 2008 he put together some highly experienced musicians in the Pittsburgh area to form the “Michael Christopher Band.” They quickly two-stepped their way onto the tri-state music scene. The band became a favorite at popular events, venues, parties, fairs and festivals while opening for several national acts.

This year Michael made several trips to Music City to co-write with some of Nashville’s most talented and successful songwriters like Sarah Majors, Karen Staley, and Jon Conley. He recently recorded his EP at the famous Sound Kitchen in Franklin, TN, produced by veteran record producer Kent Wells. Kent has worked with many of Nashville’s big stars including Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Lee Ann Womack, and Keith Urban to name a few.

Michael Christopher has an unrivaled enthusiasm for performing and looks forward to the day he can join the ranks of country music’s finest.
