A Waterloo resident and Iowa native for 56 years, Mike Thoma has been involved in music since the age of 21. Once leader of the very popular local band Blackwell Vintage, Mike eventually moved on to pursue music as a solo artist. After compiling a lengthy catalogue of Midwestern roots music, Mike put his music career on hold to raise his five children with his wife of 35 years, Kate. For years Mike continued to write new compositions and nurture his love of music passing much of his passion on to his children as well. Now a self employed businessman and with his children grown up, Mike has returned to his musical heritage breathing new life into songs that have gathered dust in shoeboxes and on shelves for several years. Mike’s earnest lyrics and carefully crafted melodies are inspired by his upbringing on a farm in rural Iowa and the travels and wisdom that can only come with age. A skilled balladeer and catchy rock composer, Mike Thoma’s music is not just a reflection of the Midwestern experience, but an insight into the human experience that we all share.
Micheal J Thoma is a licensed member of BMI and a member of the Nashville Songwriter's Association.
