Michael King

Michael King is a pianist, singer and songwriter. He has been writing music since he was a child, including writing a musical at age 19 as part of the 1988 Deniliquin Bicentennial Celebrations. The songwriting partnership of Gavin Marshall & Michael King began 2002, “The Year of the Outback”, when Michael teamed with Gavin to compose songs with an Australian theme (Gavin writing lyrics, Michael composing music). Over the years, this songwriting partnership has expanded, encompassing musical styles including adult contemporary, country/folk and music for children’s choirs. Recently, their focus has been on recording songs in their “home” studio, resulting in the self-produced CDs, “New Horizons” (2005), “Dusty Trails” (2006), “Is This It?” (2007), "Heading In The Right Direction" (2008), "People, Places, Faces, Life" (2009), "The Michael King Collection Volumes 1 & 2" (2009/10) and "Out West" (2011). Their latest CD is "And then, the wind changed..." with songs exploring the change life's journey brings and became their first CD available to purchase online! Alec Raymer is a practising Bush Poet and winner of the Tamworth Blackened Billy and Charters Towers Golden Nugget Awards. He is also a practising song lyricist and winner of the ASA Lyrics Award. He has also been a finalist on many occasions for both his bush poetry and song lyrics. Born in Toowoomba, Qld, Alec became a Secondary School teacher of English, French and History for 35 years before retiring in 1999 to pursue his present crafts. In collaboration with Alec, Michael has had 4 songs shortlisted in the ASA 2011/2012 Songwriting Competitions, earning 6th place in the ballad section in 2011. They have released a CD, "Little Blue Wren" (2012) and two further singles, "White Feathers" and "A Lot Like Home".
