Michael Picton is an award-winning composer writing for film, television, branding, advertising, theatre, and circus.
The winner of the Turner Classic Movies Young Film Composers Competition, Michael was chosen from a field of over 600 aspiring composers to score the epic 1926 Greta Garbo silent film The Temptress. Other notable film and TV work includes the films The Red Mill (TCM) and Little Chenier, the SyFy network series Flash Gordon, the themes for VH1's I Want to Work for Diddy and the PBS documentary series POV, as well as network themes for PBS, CNN international, Discovery Channel, and the Bio Network.
Michael's extensive circus career began with his writing string arrangements for the Cirque du Soleil film Alegria and performing as keyboardist for Cirque du Soleil's European tour of Quidam. His orchestrations can be heard in "Le Rêve" at Wynn Las Vegas and in "The House of Dancing Water" at the City of Dreams, Macao. He has recently scored the 137th (Bellobration) and 140th (Funundrum) editions of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Baily Circus and his latest circus, "Boom Town" by Cirque Mechanics, is currently touring.
